Job Description

Leads technical support for integrating climate adaptation and resilience into ADB transport planning, policies, investments and operations. The specialist guides climate-risk analysis, resilient project design and technical assistance, advises country and project teams, manages consultants, and builds partnerships and knowledge to strengthen transport systems across developing member countries.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Integrate climate adaptation and resilience into transport planning, programming and operations
  • Support country dialogue on resilient transport policy, investment plans and country strategies
  • Lead technical-assistance projects for climate- and disaster-resilient transport
  • Integrate adaptation requirements into transport project preparation, appraisal and monitoring
  • Guide climate-risk and vulnerability assessments and climate-finance estimation
  • Manage consultants producing adaptation analyses and resilient-design measures
  • Advise executing agencies and project teams on resilient transport implementation
  • Build partnerships and share knowledge on climate-resilient transport solutions

Role Requirements

  • University degree in climate adaptation, disaster risk management, transport planning, environmental engineering or a related field
  • At least 6 years of relevant experience managing environmental and climate-change issues in transport-sector projects
  • Experience integrating climate adaptation and resilience into transport policies, strategies, plans, programmes or investments
  • Experience in climate-risk and vulnerability assessments for transport
  • Written and verbal proficiency in English
  • Two years of relevant experience outside ADB within the past five years
  • Nationality of an ADB member country

Desired Criteria

  • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field
  • International experience across several countries
  • Familiarity with multilateral financial-institution operations, policies and procedures
