Senior Adaptation Solutions Specialist (Glaciers)

Leads ADB strategy, partnerships and investments for adaptation and resilience in glacier-fed and mountainous ecosystems, supporting country operations, technical assistance and knowledge work on climate and geohazard risks.

• Lead ADB programmes on adaptation and resilience for glacier-fed ecosystems and vulnerable mountain areas
• Provide technical oversight to the Glaciers to Farms Programme and Hindu Kush Himalayas resilience initiative
• Support country programming and investment pipeline development for water, renewable energy, disaster-risk, ecosystem and livelihood operations
• Mobilise partnerships and financial resources for adaptation and resilience initiatives in glacier ecosystems
• Provide technical assistance to developing member countries, sector groups and private-sector operations on resilient investments
• Participate in project and technical assistance missions across the project cycle
• Co-lead processing of selected full-adaptation projects focused on glaciated ecosystems
• Lead knowledge, innovation and capacity-building work on adaptation and resilience in glacier ecosystems

• Master’s degree or equivalent in engineering, glacier engineering, hydrology or a related field, or a university degree with at least five years of specialised relevant experience
• At least ten years of work experience in adaptation and resilience operations in glacier ecosystems
• International experience working in several countries
• Demonstrated experience with glacier-related adaptation solutions, approaches and tools
• Experience carrying out climate and geohazard risk assessments for infrastructure, disaster-risk reduction, ecosystems and livelihood investments
• Managerial experience leading professionals, teams and project missions on resilience in glacier ecosystems
• Written and verbal proficiency in English
• Nationality of an ADB member country

• Experience in Central and South Asia region preferred
• Familiarity with operations, policies and procedures of multilateral financial institutions
• Ability to support south-south knowledge transfer
