Job Description

UNDP seeks an Adaptation Finance Specialist in Rome to advance climate-resilient investment in developing countries. The specialist will engage governments, financiers and philanthropies; design adaptation-finance strategies and technical assistance; support project pipelines; coordinate partnerships and events; and develop knowledge and reporting that mobilise finance for resilience.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Engage G7, non-G7, financial, private-sector and philanthropic partners on adaptation finance
  • Develop investment strategies and technical assistance for adaptation projects
  • Support bankable project pipelines and resource mobilisation in Ethiopia
  • Coordinate adaptation events, advocacy and institutional partnerships
  • Oversee climate-adaptation project coordination and deliverable quality
  • Develop knowledge products, capacity-building activities and reporting

Role Requirements

  • Master's degree in economics, finance, environment, international development, public policy or related disciplines, or bachelor's degree with two additional years of qualifying experience
  • At least five years of experience in development finance, climate-adaptation planning or programme support
  • Experience designing or supporting climate-adaptation or resilience projects
  • Experience in development finance and adaptation-project delivery
  • Fluency in English

Desired Criteria

  • Experience with multilateral organisations, international financial institutions or climate funds
  • Experience engaging private-sector stakeholders on finance mobilisation
  • Experience with global climate initiatives or international-cooperation platforms
