Astana and Almaty organizations do not use one shared recruitment account: OSCE roles use the OSCE vacancies system, while UN agencies, funds and programmes each maintain their own application platforms or vacancy-specific submission instructions.
1Find the correct employer portal
Use IGOJobs to compare the organization, duty station, closing date and contract category, then open the official notice. Apply through OSCE Careers for Programme Office roles and through the relevant UN employer’s portal for UNDP, UNICEF, IOM, UNHCR, UNESCO, WHO or other agency positions. A UN Careers account does not cover every organization.
2Build the employer-specific profile
Create the required profile before a vacancy closes and complete every mandatory field. Keep a current CV, degree records, employment dates, references and work samples ready. Different employers may require an online history form, motivation statement, technical proposal, writing sample or financial offer; a general CV cannot replace evidence against the advertised criteria.
3Tailor language and regional evidence
Kazakh and Russian can matter for national, government-facing and community roles; English is common in international and regional work. Address the exact required level in the vacancy. 5Prepare for assessment and relocation
Written exercises, technical tests, competency interviews, panels and reference checks are common. Before accepting, confirm the legal employer, contract duration, salary basis, tax and insurance coverage, duty station, travel, winterization or housing support, and relocation package. Obtain written guidance on visa and residence documentation before travelling.
Ordinary permits and accredited-organization visas
Ordinary foreign employment normally needs employer authorization to employ foreign workforce, a temporary residence permit and applicable visa. Accredited international-organization staff may instead receive MFA-issued diplomatic or service visas: A2 for staff working in accredited organizations, A3 for qualifying organization-passport holders, or A4 for employees. The employer manages status; it does not automatically cover consultants or all local contracts.

Are international-organization jobs only based in Astana?
No. Astana is the main national policy and diplomatic centre, while Almaty is a significant regional hub. UN Plaza in Almaty hosts organizations with Central Asian or multi-country responsibilities, including IOM, UNHCR and UNESCO functions. Check the stated duty station rather than assuming an Almaty role is purely country-focused.
Which languages matter for Kazakhstan-based roles?
