Job Description

The WASH Officer will support UNICEF Comoros throughout the WASH programme cycle, helping turn evidence into planned, implemented, monitored and evaluated results. The role combines technical and operational support with partner coordination, quality assurance, humanitarian preparedness, capacity building and learning to strengthen sustainable WASH interventions.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Support evidence-based design and planning of WASH programme interventions
  • Assist implementation, monitoring and reporting of WASH results
  • Provide technical and operational support for quality WASH delivery
  • Coordinate with government and programme partners on WASH activities
  • Support humanitarian WASH preparedness and response
  • Promote innovation, learning and capacity building to improve programme effectiveness

Role Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in engineering, public health, social sciences, behaviour change communication or another relevant technical field
  • A first-level university degree with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in WASH, climate change, programme development, programme management, humanitarian preparedness, innovation, networking, capacity building, knowledge management or monitoring and evaluation
  • Intermediate English and proficient or fluent French
  • Open to Comoros nationals only

Desired Criteria

  • Experience with infrastructure, civil engineering, solar energy, tendering or construction supervision
  • Relevant country-level experience in development, fragile settings or humanitarian contexts
