Job Description

Strengthens UNICEF Malawi's procurement and supply-chain functions to deliver goods and services for programmes. The officer supports supply planning, sourcing, procurement services and market research; guides government and implementing partners; manages supplier and contract performance; and reinforces risk management, compliance, emergency preparedness and sustainable supply operations.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Support supply planning and implementation for UNICEF programme delivery
  • Support sourcing strategies, long-term arrangements, procurement services and offshore procurement
  • Conduct procurement and market-research support activities
  • Provide technical guidance to government counterparts and implementing partners
  • Monitor procurement pipelines, supplier performance and contract performance
  • Strengthen internal controls, risk management and compliance with UNICEF policies
  • Support emergency preparedness and rapid procurement response
  • Supervise and coach team members to support expected performance

Role Requirements

  • First-level university degree in business administration, economics, logistics, management, supply chain management, procurement, law, international development, public health, social science or a related field
  • At least two years of relevant experience in supply management, administration, procurement management, supply planning, vendor assessment, risk management, performance monitoring, stakeholder coordination, capacity building, technical support, government engagement, humanitarian programming, data-driven planning or compliance frameworks
  • Fluency in local language and English
  • Open to Malawian nationals only

Desired Criteria

  • Knowledge of partner capacity building, operational risk management, humanitarian programming, government coordination, data-driven planning and internal controls
  • Relevant country-level experience in development, fragile settings or humanitarian contexts
