Job Description
Delivers structural-engineering support for UNOPS water-supply and irrigation rehabilitation under Syria’s Nexus Response Mechanism. Based in Damascus, the engineer will evaluate designs for pumping stations, storage facilities and related structures, inspect worksites, prepare specifications and quality controls, and coordinate safe, standards-compliant recovery infrastructure.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Develop structural designs, calculations, reports and scopes of work for infrastructure projects
- Provide structural assessments and design reviews for pumping stations, water storage, foundations and concrete or steel structures
- Prepare design documentation, specifications, bar-bending schedules and technical reports
- Review structural components against client requirements and applicable international standards
- Prepare and review structural bills of quantities and identify appropriate engineering technologies
- Conduct site inspections and assessments and prepare structural reports
- Develop quality-assurance and quality-control procedures and monitor structural documents
- Coordinate integrated designs with project managers, architects, engineers and quantity surveyors
Role Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil or Structural Engineering with 2 years of relevant experience
- Minimum 2 years of practical civil engineering and related experience
- Fluent Arabic and intermediate English
Desired Criteria
- Project Management certification
- Experience with UN or humanitarian and development agencies
- Experience using Revit, MathCAD, PLS-CADD, StaadPro, ETABS, SAP2000 or PROKON
- Previous experience in Syria and targeted areas
