Job Description
Provides electrical engineering support for UNOPS water-supply and irrigation rehabilitation work in Damascus. The role prepares and reviews electrical and solar-system designs, tender documents and drawings; monitors contractors, site progress and HSSE requirements; and supports testing, commissioning and handover of reliable infrastructure that advances sustainable recovery in Syria.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Assess electrical needs for water-supply and irrigation systems, including pumps, motors and solar PV
- Prepare and review designs for power supply, transformers, generators, control panels, cabling and earthing
- Review terms of reference, specifications, bills of quantities, cost estimates and drawings
- Support tender preparation and evaluation for consultancy, supply and construction work
- Conduct site inspections and prepare reports on progress, issues and lessons learned
- Monitor contractor compliance with quality-management and HSSE plans
- Review design documentation and recommend practical improvements to electrical systems
- Coordinate testing, commissioning, training and handover to beneficiaries
Role Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline with two years of relevant experience
- At least two years of electrical-systems design or supervision experience
- Experience designing solar photovoltaic systems and related electrical components
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
- Intermediate English and fluent Arabic
Desired Criteria
- Project-management certification
- Membership in a professional engineering association
- Experience with Primavera or MS Project
- PVsyst, ETAP or other solar-energy certification
- UN or international-organization experience
