Job Description
Provides structural-engineering support for UNOPS water-supply and irrigation rehabilitation under Syria’s Nexus Response Mechanism. The Homs-based engineer will assess designs for pumping stations, storage facilities and related structures, inspect worksites, develop quality controls and technical documents, and coordinate delivery of resilient recovery infrastructure for communities.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Design structural components, drawings, calculations, reports and scopes of work
- Assess and review structures for water supply and irrigation infrastructure, including pumping stations and water-storage facilities
- Prepare design briefs, reports, specifications, calculations and bar-bending schedules
- Review structural designs against client requirements and international standards
- Develop and review structural bills of quantities
- Conduct structural site inspections, assessments and technical reports
- Develop quality-assurance and quality-control protocols and monitor structural deliverables
- Coordinate designs and submissions with architects, engineers and quantity surveyors
Role Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil or Structural Engineering with 2 years of relevant experience
- Minimum 2 years of practical civil engineering and related experience
- Fluent Arabic and intermediate English
Desired Criteria
- Project Management certification
- Experience with UN or humanitarian and development agencies
- Experience with Revit, MathCAD, PLS-CADD, StaadPro, ETABS, SAP2000 or PROKON
- Experience with Syrian infrastructure and targeted areas
