Job Description

Advances disability-inclusive social protection in Kenya by analysing the Unpaid Care model and helping government develop a roadmap for care and support services. The role strengthens systems to identify, assess and refer children with disabilities, connecting UNICEF policy work with government, UN and civil-society partners to scale sustainable inclusion initiatives.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Gather and communicate lessons from the Unpaid Care pilot to support a government roadmap for a Care and Support System
  • Analyse lessons from the Unpaid Care model implemented in Nairobi County
  • Support dissemination of findings and work with government to scale the Care and Support System in Kenya
  • Provide secretariat support for engagement with GIZ and UN agencies on Amman-Berlin Declaration Targets
  • Support systems-strengthening activities for identification, assessment and assistive technology provision for children with disabilities
  • Support implementation of NIKO programme financing for disability-inclusive identification, assessment and referral systems

Role Requirements

  • Specialisation in Social Sciences, Social Care, Public Policy or a related field
  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in disability inclusion, social protection, social care, public policy or related programming
  • English

Desired Criteria

  • Knowledge of public finance, costing, cash transfer programmes, unpaid care, caregiver support, assessment and referral systems or digital tools for social protection programming
