Job Description
The Senior Special Assistant will advise the Under-Secretary-General for Safety and Security on strategic programme delivery, compliance and organisational performance. The role leads special initiatives, directs policy analysis, coordinates budget and outreach work, and represents UNDSS with Member States and United Nations partners to strengthen the Department’s system-wide mandate.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Lead development, implementation and evaluation of programmes and special initiatives for the Under-Secretary-General
- Direct reviews of documents and reports and initiate corrective follow-up actions
- Manage compliance monitoring, evaluation and personnel resources supporting the Department’s mandate
- Direct research and analysis supporting the Under-Secretary-General’s strategic vision
- Oversee written outputs including background papers, reports and studies
- Lead outreach with Member States and United Nations system counterparts
Role Requirements
- Advanced university degree in business or public administration, finance, accounting, law, engineering, social sciences or a related area
- A first-level university degree with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree
- At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in programme management, administration, finance, security management or a related field
- English
Desired Criteria
- Experience at headquarters coordinating across multiple stakeholders
- Experience liaising with government counterparts or regional or subregional organisations
