Job Description
Provide substantive support to the Office of the Under-Secretary-General for Safety and Security on political and operational matters. The Special Assistant manages senior engagements, analyses developments, drafts briefings and communications, coordinates programme and administrative processes, and sustains partnerships that support informed decision-making and United Nations security leadership.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Advise senior officials on political developments and recommended action
- Manage senior-official engagements and substantive support
- Review mission documentation for senior consideration and endorsement
- Research peace-and-security developments and identify emerging issues
- Draft reports, briefings, talking points, speeches and correspondence
- Coordinate programme activities, budgeting and administrative processes
Role Requirements
- Advanced degree in political science, international relations, law, public administration or related field, or first-level degree with additional qualifying experience
- At least five years of progressively responsible relevant experience
- At least three years supporting senior-official front-office settings
- At least two years of field experience in conflict or post-conflict settings
- Fluent English
Desired Criteria
- Public-information, speech-writing or communications experience
