Chief, Security and Safety / Global Security and Safety Advisor

Directs UN Women’s global security, safety, business-continuity and crisis-management function. The role sets organisation-wide policy and risk standards, leads specialist personnel and resources, advises executive leadership, and integrates resilient, gender-responsive security practice across headquarters and field operations to protect people, assets and programme delivery.

• Direct global security, safety, business-continuity, crisis-management and occupational-health-and-safety policies and standards
• Advise executive leadership and field offices on risk tolerance, mitigation, compliance and resource requirements
• Lead security assessments and corrective action across UN Women locations, programmes, operations and premises
• Manage the global Security and Safety Services function, work planning, personnel performance and budgets
• Integrate security, safety and gender-responsive risk considerations into programme planning, implementation and monitoring
• Represent UN Women in senior inter-agency security forums and sustain partnerships with UNDSS, host governments and external stakeholders
• Maintain and test crisis-management and business-continuity frameworks, training and information-flow protocols

• Master’s degree in management, security, security management, business administration, law enforcement, international relations, programme management or a related field; a first-level degree may be accepted with two additional qualifying years
• At least 10 years of progressively responsible security and safety management experience, including five years at senior professional or management level
• At least five years of field experience managing complex development or humanitarian programmes with conflict and post-conflict scenarios
• Experience leading professional multidisciplinary teams in international settings
• Experience managing organisational business-continuity programmes
• Fluency in English

• Experience managing organisational occupational health and safety programmes is highly desirable
• Experience managing training and digital-transformation projects in multicultural teams is desirable
• UN-system, organisational-change and multi-partner coordination experience is desirable
