Job Description
OHCHR seeks a senior public-information officer to lead the Communications and Mobilization Section in Geneva. The post drives advocacy and strategic communications, directs global campaigns and multimedia products, assures quality and branding, builds partnerships and manages a diverse team, budget and analytics to increase the global reach and impact of human-rights communications.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Drive OHCHR advocacy and communications strategy in line with High Commissioner priorities
- Lead development and implementation of communications strategy across headquarters and field presences
- Assure the quality of communication products and services
- Build private-sector and other strategic partnerships to strengthen outreach and advocacy
- Lead communication strategy, activities and budget for social media, multimedia, web, campaigns and graphic design
- Provide technical and policy advice on complex strategic-communications issues
- Lead, coach and evaluate a diverse team and allocate work assignments
- Report on communication impact and effectiveness using detailed analytics
Role Requirements
- Advanced university degree in communications; a first-level degree in communications with two additional qualifying years may be accepted
- At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in public information, strategic communications, journalism, international relations, public administration or a related area
- At least five years of managerial experience
- Experience in digital outreach and social media
- Experience in the UN common system or a similar international organisation
- Excellent management experience including results-based management and management of staff, budgets and planning
- English and either French, Chinese, Spanish, Russian or Arabic are required
Desired Criteria
- At least three years of experience in human rights, development, humanitarian or related areas
- At least three years of field experience
