Job Description

The Senior Operations Officer leads WHO India operations across finance, human resources, procurement, security, logistics and administration. The post manages operations teams, strengthens compliance and risk management, supports programme delivery and represents WHO in UN coordination. It requires an advanced relevant degree, ten years’ experience, four years leading teams and expert English.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Advise the country office on operations policies and compliance
  • Lead operations teams across finance, human resources and procurement
  • Manage financial planning, accounts, budgets and cash management
  • Oversee human-resource planning, recruitment and contract management
  • Lead procurement and support technical programmes
  • Manage security, safety and administrative risk mitigation
  • Represent WHO in United Nations operations coordination

Role Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in finance, management, accountancy, economics, business administration or a related field
  • At least ten years of relevant administrative and managerial experience
  • At least four years managing and leading staff or teams
  • Expert knowledge of English

Desired Criteria

  • Experience with WHO, United Nations funds and programmes or equivalent organisations
  • Experience delivering operational services in a developing country
  • Experience managing operations and large teams in emergency contexts
  • Knowledge of programme management and end-to-end business processes
  • Knowledge of enterprise resource planning systems
  • Beginner knowledge of Hindi
