Job Description

WFP seeks a senior evaluation leader to head its global Impact Evaluation Unit from Bangkok. The post directs impact-evaluation planning, delivery, quality assurance, staff supervision and capacity development, while building partnerships and multi-agency evaluation windows that strengthen evidence use in policy and programming across humanitarian and development operations.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Lead the global Impact Evaluation Unit and the impact-evaluation workstream of the Office of Evaluation workplan
  • Manage staff across Rome, regional and country offices and provide coaching, guidance and second-level quality assurance
  • Oversee complex impact-evaluation processes and budgets from preparation and design through completion
  • Build global impact-evaluation capacity and lead resource-mobilisation and partnership efforts
  • Develop multi-agency impact-evaluation windows with UN partners and regional donors
  • Report impact-evaluation evidence, strategic progress and thematic findings to the WFP Executive Board
  • Promote accountability and learning through evidence products, findings and recommendations

Role Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in international development, economics, social science or a related field including advanced data analysis coursework, or a first university degree with two additional years of related experience
  • At least 11 years of relevant professional experience in international development or humanitarian work, evaluation and/or policy studies, including at least four international years
  • At least eight years conducting or managing impact evaluations in diverse humanitarian and/or development contexts
  • Fluency in English and intermediate knowledge of a second official UN or WFP working language

Desired Criteria

  • Doctoral degree in development studies, economics, political science or a related field
  • Experience reporting to boards and advising senior management on the implications of impact-evaluation evidence
  • Experience representing organisations at international academic conferences, global events and donor forums
