Job Description

Leads UNEP FI's engagement with European Union policymakers, regulators and financial institutions to make sectoral transition policies more bankable. The home-based consultancy develops policy-engagement frameworks and finance solutions, convenes banks and public stakeholders, and translates industrial and climate priorities into practical investment pathways and policy–finance alignment.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a value proposition, toolkits, guidance and engagement frameworks for banks in EU sectoral policy processes
  • Align EU industrial and sectoral policy with financial-sector practices and investment capabilities
  • Analyse and prioritise EU sectoral policies and translate them into actionable financing pathways for banks
  • Develop policy briefs, engagement toolkits and practical guidance for banks' policy dialogue
  • Facilitate expert sessions, roundtables and multi-stakeholder dialogues involving banks, policymakers and industry
  • Identify and scale innovative financial instruments including blended finance, guarantees and securitisation structures
  • Represent UNEP FI in EU platforms and working groups while coordinating policy, banking, climate, nature and communications teams

Role Requirements

  • Master's degree in finance, law, economics, business administration or international relations, or a bachelor's degree with 12 years of relevant experience
  • At least ten years of professional experience in investment or lending, development finance or investment banking, banking regulation, supervision and sustainable finance
  • Fluency in English

Desired Criteria

  • At least five years of experience in the banking sector, including a European policy and banking setting
  • Professional network among financial-sector regulators, policymakers, investors or their organisations
  • Public speaking and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to once per quarter
