Senior Data Governance Officer

Leads IFRC’s data governance programme by translating strategic objectives into practical frameworks, policies and controls for secure, ethical and compliant data use. The role establishes governance structures, improves data quality and protection, and works with technical and business teams to strengthen data accountability and protect vulnerable populations.

• Design and implement organisational data-governance frameworks and policies
• Establish governance roles, committees and accountability structures
• Develop data-classification and sensitivity-labelling standards
• Support privacy-impact assessments and data-breach protocols
• Define and monitor data-quality metrics and validation checks
• Oversee data asset inventory, documentation and cataloguing
• Configure governance settings and workflows in Microsoft platforms

• Degree in computer science, software engineering, data science, statistics, mathematics or a related field
• At least 5 years of experience developing and implementing data governance frameworks, policies or standards
• Experience working in complex data environments or regulated sectors
• Experience managing diverse stakeholders
• Fluent spoken and written English
