Job Description
WHO seeks a Research Officer in Ouagadougou for the ESPEN programme on neglected tropical diseases. The officer will develop laboratory protocols, support operational research and molecular testing, document best practices, maintain laboratory databases and surveillance maps, contribute scientific reports, assess country tools and data systems, train national laboratory teams and support NTD

Summary of Responsibilities
- Develop laboratory protocols and NTD diagnostic tools
- Support operational research on PC-NTD elimination
- Perform molecular and entomological testing
- Document laboratory protocols and best practices
- Maintain laboratory databases and surveillance mapping
- Support scientific reports and publications
- Assess country data systems and tools
- Train national laboratory teams
Role Requirements
- First degree in computer science, information-system engineering, GIS, public health, parasitology or medical entomology
- At least 2 years in molecular biology, NTD surveillance tools or GIS spatial modelling
- Expert French knowledge
Desired Criteria
- Advanced laboratory-science certification
- WHO experience
- Publication record on NTDs
- English knowledge
