Job Description

Contributes research, analysis, data management and knowledge dissemination for UNDP’s Human Development Reports and related initiatives. The analyst develops evidence and indicators, synthesises literature and data, supports report drafting and quality assurance, coordinates consultations and research partnerships, and translates findings into products for policy and stakeholder engagement.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and analysis on human-development issues, trends and emerging policy topics
  • Develop evidence-based insights for Human Development Reports and other knowledge products
  • Undertake literature reviews and quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Draft report content and written research inputs
  • Review background research papers for relevance, quality and consistency
  • Support fact-checking, data validation, reference checks and verification of analytical findings
  • Develop, maintain and analyse human-development indicators and composite measures
  • Organise research materials and support consultations, research partnerships and dissemination products

Role Requirements

  • Advanced degree in Social Science focused on social, economic or political aspects of development, or a bachelor’s degree in those areas with two additional years of qualifying experience
  • Bachelor’s-degree applicants need at least two years of relevant professional experience in research data analysis
  • Fluency in English

Desired Criteria

  • Experience working on frontier issues or with frontier research institutions
  • Experience in quantitative data analysis using STATA, R or Python
  • Experience writing high-quality policy papers, memos and notes
