Research Fellowship (Experimental Physics)

Develops an independent experimental-particle-physics research programme at CERN, analysing data and contributing to detector design, construction or operations while collaborating across international research groups and presenting results within the wider scientific community.

• Develop and lead an experimental-particle-physics research programme
• Conduct research within a selected CERN experimental physics group
• Analyse and interpret data from large-scale scientific instruments
• Contribute to detector design, construction or operations
• Collaborate with physicists and engineers on particle-interaction studies
• Present and discuss research results in seminars, workshops and projects
• Pursue independent research interests within the fellowship framework

• PhD completed by the application deadline or expected within six months
• No more than six years of research experience after completing the PhD
• Strong background in experimental particle physics or a closely related field
• Research experience aligned with CERN experimental facilities
• Nationality of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State
• No previous CERN fellow or graduate contract
• Current CERN staff members are ineligible

• Fully onsite fellowship in Geneva with an ideal start date of 1 February 2027. The usual term is 24 months, while a small number of fellows may receive 36 months.
