Job Description

Leads UN Women’s regional Women Count implementation across the Arab States, strengthening gender-statistics systems and SDG monitoring. The specialist manages programme delivery and teams, provides technical and policy leadership to country and regional partners, develops methods and capacity, and builds evidence, partnerships and financing that improve the production and use of gender data.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Manage regional implementation, planning, budgets, performance oversight and reporting for the Women Count programme
  • Align regional work with strategic notes, national priorities and global Women Count objectives
  • Provide technical leadership on gender statistics, SDG monitoring and policy support to UN Women offices and member states
  • Develop and disseminate assessment tools, methodologies, guidance and capacity-building initiatives for gender-data production and use
  • Lead regional partnerships, knowledge sharing and communities of practice with governments, UN entities, research institutions and civil society
  • Oversee collection, analysis and reporting of programme data, results and use cases while ensuring quality standards
  • Mobilise resources and represent UN Women in regional technical events and gender-data advocacy

Role Requirements

  • Master’s degree in statistics, demography or economics; a first-level degree may be accepted with two additional qualifying years
  • At least seven years of progressively responsible work experience in gender statistics
  • Experience in gender equality and women’s empowerment programming
  • Experience leading and managing personnel in international settings
  • Experience using office, spreadsheet, database and web-based management systems
  • Fluency in English

Desired Criteria

  • Experience in the UN system is desirable
  • Modern web-based ERP experience, preferably Oracle Cloud and AI, is desirable
  • Experience in the Arab States region is desirable
