Public Information Assistant

The Public Information Assistant delivers guided tours and public briefings at United Nations Headquarters in New York. The Tour Guide explains UN history, institutions and current work to diverse visitors, handles sensitive questions with diplomacy, plans and dispatches daily tours, manages staff workload and attendance, and prepares operational briefings on current UN activities.

• Conduct one-hour lecture tours on United Nations history and work in peace, security, development and human rights
• Tailor information for children, students, senior citizens, VIPs, mission staff and media representatives
• Handle politically sensitive visitor questions with tact, diplomacy and accurate information
• Plan, schedule and dispatch daily guided tours while maintaining smooth operations
• Assign tours and duties, maintain attendance records and address recurring operational issues
• Prepare and conduct morning briefings on current UN activities and world news when required

• Recognized first-level degree
• At least one year of full-time experience as an official Tour Guide in an international organisation
• Experience conducting official tours for children and younger audiences
• English and Russian are required
• Authorisation to work in the United States
