Job Description

UNOPS LKA seeks a UN Volunteer Project Manager to deliver an integrated solid-waste-management project in Sri Lanka. The role plans and oversees landfill, material-recovery and composting works; manages time, cost, quality and risks; monitors results; reports to the Board and donors; coordinates government, communities and contractors; and leads a project team under safety and security standards.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement project plans and baselines in line with UNOPS standards
  • Oversee design and construction of sanitary landfills, material recovery facilities and composting facilities
  • Maintain monitoring and evaluation indicators and manage project risks
  • Prepare technical, narrative and financial reports for the Project Board, donors and UNOPS management
  • Coordinate with donors, government authorities, communities and contractors
  • Lead and supervise the project team with health, safety and security compliance

Role Requirements

  • Five years of relevant experience with a Master’s degree or seven years with a Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience managing and delivering physical infrastructure projects
  • Experience defining technical and engineering design requirements and conducting design reviews
  • English

Desired Criteria

  • Experience in developing countries, post-conflict contexts or emergency settings
  • Knowledge of FIDIC contract management standards
  • Experience with UN system entities or international development organizations
  • Experience planning and enforcing HSSE procedures
  • Experience with KOICA-funded projects
