Job Description

Supports IOM Sri Lanka’s Labour Mobility and Social Inclusion Unit to implement and monitor projects. The role compiles project information, tracks budget availability, coordinates administrative actions and external liaison, prepares reports and correspondence, and organises meetings and training events so programme activities, records and stakeholder follow-up remain accurate and timely.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Assist with implementation and monitoring of Labour Mobility and Social Inclusion project activities
  • Retrieve, compile, summarise and present information and data on project topics
  • Monitor budgets by verifying funds, obtaining approvals and updating budget information
  • Coordinate administrative actions and liaison with organisational units and external parties
  • Draft status reports and flag delivery shortfalls to the supervisor
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentations and other documentation
  • Organise meetings, workshops and training sessions
  • Maintain files and records and respond to general information requests

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in political or social sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or a related field with two years of relevant professional experience, or High School diploma with four years
  • Experience in labour migration, skills development, ethical recruitment practices and social development projects
  • Experience implementing projects and organising meetings, workshops, trainings and events
  • Experience liaising with governmental authorities, institutions, UN agencies and non-governmental organizations
  • Fluency in English and Sinhala or Tamil

Desired Criteria

  • Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions in a multicultural setting

  • The selection process may be used to staff similar positions in various duty stations
  • Recommended candidates may be appointed to similar positions for 24 months
  • Appointment is subject to funding confirmation, medical fitness, accreditation, residency or visa requirements and security clearances
