Job Description
The Programme Specialist implements UNESCO science agendas across Pacific Small Island Developing States from Apia. The P-4 role develops and manages science programmes, research networks and capacity building; advises governments on science and IOC initiatives; mobilizes partners and resources; and advances policy, climate action, disaster preparedness, STEM education and cooperation.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Promote science for sustainable development with Pacific Member States
- Design and monitor work plans for Sciences Sector priorities
- Develop research networks and science capacity-building activities
- Advise governments on UNESCO Sciences and IOC initiatives
- Integrate science priorities into UN sustainable-development frameworks
- Mobilize regional and international partners for science programmes
Role Requirements
- Advanced university degree in a scientific discipline relevant to the position
- Minimum seven years of progressively responsible scientific or science-programme experience
- Experience managing science programmes, resource mobilization and partnerships
- Excellent knowledge of English
