Programme Policy Officer, Climate Resilience

Leads technical and operational support for WFP Tanzania’s climate-resilience portfolio, strengthening landscape rehabilitation, natural-resource management and adaptive livelihoods. The role steers delivery with government, partners and country-office teams, embeds gender and nutrition considerations, and turns programme evidence into proposals, reporting and practical knowledge products.

• Monitor integrated resilience activities through field visits, implementation reviews and identification of collaboration opportunities
• Design climate-resilience proposals under guidance from the Activity and SO3 Managers
• Provide technical guidance on natural-resource management, asset creation, regenerative agriculture and livelihood development
• Coordinate the climate-resilience portfolio with country-office teams, cooperating partners and development partners
• Represent WFP in public fora and maintain relationships with government and organisations involved in natural-resource management
• Embed gender and nutrition perspectives in programming and build climate-resilience capacity among staff, partners and national government
• Produce operating procedures, briefs, case studies and lessons learned for internal and external use

• Bachelor’s degree in climate studies, agriculture, environmental studies, natural resource management, international development or a related discipline
• Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in climate mitigation and adaptation, natural resource management, agriculture or international development
• Fluency (level C) in English and Kiswahili

• Postgraduate degree in a related discipline
• Experience implementing nutrition-sensitive, gender, youth and inclusion programming
• Experience with WFP asset creation, landscape rehabilitation and participatory development processes
• Knowledge of UN system policies, rules, regulations and procedures
