Job Description

Coordinates WFP’s macro-insurance and disaster-risk-financing portfolio from London, with assignment relocation to Rome. The P-4 officer develops partnerships, advances the financing architecture and supports country risk-transfer programmes. The role leads technical engagement, evidence generation, capacity strengthening and resource mobilisation for climate-shock preparedness and response.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Develop partnerships with insurers, risk pools, brokers and disaster-risk-financing actors
  • Represent WFP and advise on strategic disaster-risk-financing engagement
  • Support country insurance-product design and risk-transfer parameters
  • Lead evidence generation, risk-layering strategy and programme learning
  • Support the disaster-risk-financing architecture, resource mobilisation and donor reporting

Role Requirements

  • Advanced degree in economics, environmental studies, agriculture and food security, development studies, emergency preparedness or related area
  • First university degree plus two additional years of related experience
  • At least eight years of experience in disaster risk financing, parametric insurance or climate risk management
  • Fluency in English

Desired Criteria

  • Experience working with UN organizations
  • Field experience in humanitarian work
