Job Description

Supports UNDP's Environment and Climate portfolio by coordinating J-PRISM Phase 3, waste-management and marine-plastic initiatives in Papua New Guinea. The assignment connects national and local stakeholders, strengthens waste-policy implementation with CEPA, and improves programme planning, monitoring, reporting, knowledge management and resource mobilisation.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Coordinate J-PRISM Phase 3 activities with participating cities and stakeholders
  • Support waste-management and marine-plastic interventions
  • Help CEPA operationalise the national waste management policy
  • Monitor portfolio workplans, budgets, outputs and delivery targets
  • Prepare programme documents, progress reports and donor updates
  • Organise meetings, workshops and stakeholder consultations
  • Document lessons and good practices for replication and scaling
  • Develop concept notes, project documents and funding proposals

Role Requirements

  • 3 years of relevant environmental management or waste management experience
  • Environmental programme implementation experience
  • Stakeholder coordination and government engagement experience
  • Knowledge of 3R approaches
  • Knowledge of integrated waste management systems
  • Analytical skills
  • Reporting skills
  • Coordination skills

Desired Criteria

  • Programme support and portfolio coordination experience
  • Familiarity with UNDP programme cycles
  • Results-based management familiarity
