Job Description

Delivers client-focused procurement services for UN Women's Papua New Guinea Business Unit, applying fair, value-for-money sourcing practices. The associate supports procurement planning, competitive solicitations, purchase orders and review submissions, maintains supplier information, and helps teams build procurement knowledge, manage data and address complex cases with regional advisers.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Support procurement strategies and compliance with UN Women policies
  • Prepare solicitations and assist with quotation, bid and proposal evaluations
  • Prepare purchase orders, contracts and procurement-review submissions
  • Maintain supplier rosters and use long-term agreements and UNGM resources
  • Support procurement training for operations staff, project personnel and suppliers
  • Compile procurement lessons learned and contribute to knowledge networks

Role Requirements

  • Secondary education
  • At least 6 years of progressively responsible procurement experience with a high school diploma, or 4 years with a bachelor's degree
  • Experience using computers, office software, spreadsheet and database packages, and web-based management systems
  • Fluency in the language of the duty station

Desired Criteria

  • First-level degree in business administration, public administration, finance, economics or equivalent
  • CIPS level 3 procurement certification
  • Public-sector or international procurement experience
  • Experience with Oracle Cloud or another modern web-based ERP system
  • Knowledge of another official UN language
