Job Description

Designs UN Women's women’s economic-empowerment strategy for Papua New Guinea, connecting business development, financial inclusion, social protection and gender financing. The consultant maps programmes and private-sector partners, convenes government and business stakeholders, develops partnership and financing models, and produces strategy, policy, presentation and implementation packages.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Map UN Women programmes and identify strategic opportunities for women's economic empowerment
  • Consult government, civil society, UN and development partners at national and provincial levels
  • Draft the country-office economic-empowerment strategy and presentation package
  • Map private-sector actors and develop an engagement strategy and partnership framework
  • Establish dialogue platforms linking UN Women, companies, chambers and government bodies
  • Develop gender-financing models, implementation frameworks and resource-mobilisation recommendations

Role Requirements

  • Master's degree in economics, business studies, international relations, development studies or a related field, or a first-level degree plus two additional years of qualifying experience
  • At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in design, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of development projects
  • Technical experience in informal-economy engagement, MSME development and financial inclusion
  • Fluency in English
