Job Description

Advances FAO's One Health agenda by linking policy advice, programme development and resource mobilisation across antimicrobial resistance, food safety, animal and plant health, and environmental health. The role helps Members turn One Health principles into practical governance, investments and coordinated agrifood-system action with national and international partners.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Provide policy and technical support for One Health strategies, governance frameworks and multisectoral coordination in agrifood systems
  • Integrate One Health approaches across food safety, antimicrobial resistance, animal health, plant health and environmental health programmes
  • Support Members to strengthen antimicrobial-resistance governance, prudent antimicrobial use, surveillance, risk communication and evidence-based decision-making
  • Promote relevant international standards and guidance, including Codex Alimentarius, IPPC and WOAH frameworks
  • Support the design, implementation, monitoring and reporting of One Health projects aligned with FAO priorities and country needs
  • Facilitate collaboration across FAO offices and with Quadripartite organizations, national partners and development partners
  • Contribute to resource mobilisation, programme development and donor engagement for FAO's One Health portfolio

Role Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in political sciences, agricultural economics, development economics, rural sociology, food security, nutrition, sustainable agriculture, or a relevant One Health and policy field
  • Seven years of relevant experience in policy advice and analysis relating to food and nutrition security, agriculture and rural development, or monitoring and evaluation of policies and programmes
  • Working knowledge of English and intermediate knowledge of another FAO official language

  • Experience in more than one location or area of work, particularly in field positions
