Senior Forestry Officer (Forest Foods, Nutrition and Wildlife)

Leads FAO policy work on forest foods, sustainably managed wildlife and their contribution to nutrition, livelihoods and resilient food systems. The role connects forestry, biodiversity and One Health agendas, directing normative guidance, country support, partnerships and resource mobilisation while representing FAO in international processes and advancing management of wild resources.

• Provide global technical leadership on forest foods and sustainable wildlife management for food security and ecosystem resilience
• Lead FAO engagement in international policy processes and technical fora on wildlife, biodiversity, nutrition and food security
• Provide normative and technical support to countries and FAO field programmes
• Lead resource-mobilisation strategies, partnership development and project formulation
• Strengthen collaboration across forestry, food systems, nutrition, biodiversity, One Health and climate teams
• Manage partnerships with institutions, researchers, civil society, donors and private-sector organisations
• Serve as Secretary of the Collaborative Partnership on Sustainable Wildlife Management
• Lead technical guidance and policy tools on wildlife management and forest foods

• Advanced university degree in forest, agriculture or natural resources management, ecosystem biodiversity management, or social sciences including political sciences or economics
• Ten years of relevant experience in forestry, sustainable wildlife management, biodiversity conservation, natural resources management or forest-based food systems
• Working knowledge of English at level C and intermediate knowledge of another FAO official language at level B
