Job Description

Supports FAO’s Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok on biodiversity conservation, sustainable forest management and biodiversity mainstreaming. The consultant analyses regional priorities, develops project concepts and technical products, supports forestry and biodiversity projects, and helps convene consultations, capacity development and knowledge exchange across the region.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Analyse regional biodiversity priorities and implementation gaps
  • Compile FAO tools, methodologies, case studies and good practices
  • Support biodiversity-project concepts, baselines, stakeholder analyses and results frameworks
  • Support forestry and biodiversity project implementation and reporting
  • Develop technical publications, policy briefs and communication materials
  • Organize consultations, capacity-development activities and technical dialogues
  • Synthesize regional biodiversity initiatives and partnerships
  • Support monitoring and evaluation of programme results

Role Requirements

  • Advanced degree in environmental policy, biological sciences, international development or a related field
  • At least 1 year of experience in biodiversity, natural-resources management or sustainable agriculture
  • Working knowledge of English

Desired Criteria

  • Knowledge of Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish or Russian
