PAHO Consultant - Consultoría Nacional para apoyar acciones integrales para la preparación y respuesta ante patógenos respiratorios y Reglamento Sanitario Internacional

PAHO seeks a national consultant to reinforce Costa Rica’s preparedness, prevention and response to epidemic and pandemic respiratory threats and the International Health Regulations. The consultant will coordinate national activities, update preparedness plans and technical tools, monitor IHR capacities, convene workshops, prepare reports and strengthen interinstitutional public-health action.

• Support national preparedness, prevention and response activities for priority respiratory threats
• Update and implement national preparedness and response plans
• Monitor indicators and targets for surveillance, preparedness and response
• Support assessment and strengthening of International Health Regulations core capacities
• Prepare technical documents, protocols, plans and reports
• Facilitate workshops, technical assistance and preparedness exercises

• Professional degree in health, occupational health, social sciences or a related field
• Postgraduate training in public health, epidemiology, health management or risk management
• At least five years of experience in surveillance, prevention and control of public-health events

• At least three years of combined experience in risk management and emergency response
• Knowledge of Costa Rica’s health sector and social-security system
