Job Description

UNICEF seeks a Nutrition Officer to support development, implementation, monitoring and reporting of nutrition programmes in Awasa. The role works with government, NGO, UN and donor partners to analyse needs, manage programme resources, strengthen stakeholder capacity and partnerships, mobilise resources, and share learning that improves maternal and child nutrition results.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Conduct and update nutrition-sector situation analyses for programme design and management
  • Develop programme goals, strategies and results-based plans from nutrition needs analyses
  • Monitor the use of programme resources and verify compliance with allocations and donor commitments
  • Prepare programme and project reports for management, donors and partners
  • Advise government, NGO, UN and donor partners on UNICEF nutrition policies and practices
  • Build nutrition-sector partnerships and contribute to resource-mobilisation materials
  • Capture lessons learned and support stakeholder capacity-building initiatives

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in nutrition, dietetics, public health, health administration, epidemiology, global health, maternal and child health, health policy, health management, health or nutrition research, or another health-related science field
  • At least two years of relevant experience in health, programme management, nutrition, public health, monitoring and evaluation, partnership development, capacity building, policy and advocacy, resource mobilisation or knowledge management
  • Fluency in English

Desired Criteria

  • Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is an asset
  • Experience in health or nutrition programme development with a UN system agency or organisation is an asset
  • Country-level experience in development, fragile or humanitarian contexts is an asset
