Job Description

IOM Cameroon seeks a National Protection Officer in Yaounde to support its protection project portfolio. The officer will coordinate and monitor project activities; strengthen protection mainstreaming; analyse project information; liaise with donors and government counterparts; support partner agreements and capacity building; prepare reports and proposals; and guide field protection personnel.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and monitor operational, administrative and financial aspects of protection interventions
  • Identify gaps in protection activities and propose actions to improve implementation
  • Develop work plans, project budgets, monitoring and evaluation tools and standard operating procedures
  • Monitor implementing-partner agreements and apply IOM protection standards
  • Collect, verify and analyse protection information and update project information-management systems
  • Prepare and disseminate project reports and liaise with donors, partners, UN agencies and government counterparts
  • Deliver protection capacity building and provide training and technical guidance to field personnel

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or a related field with two years of relevant professional experience
  • Master’s degree in the same fields
  • Experience working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups
  • Experience supporting protection programming including GBV and/or human trafficking
  • English

Desired Criteria

  • Experience supervising teams and guiding and delivering trainings
  • Experience with specialized international agencies, including UN agencies, international organisations and international NGOs
  • Experience in project management, monitoring and evaluation
