Job Description

Supports UNDP’s Peaceful Elections project in Papua New Guinea by monitoring electoral preparations and helping national stakeholders deliver credible, inclusive and peaceful 2027 elections. The volunteer coordinates UN and development partners, supports capacity-building and project-governance processes, monitors indicators and prepares donor reports and communications for the joint initiative.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Monitor election preparations and emerging situations for UN and UNDP senior-management briefings
  • Support training and capacity-development initiatives with electoral stakeholders
  • Coordinate participating UN organisations and regular joint-project team meetings
  • Coordinate development partners through PNGEC-led donor-coordination activities
  • Manage partnerships with electoral institutions and key stakeholders
  • Support the project steering committee and reference-group secretariat
  • Monitor project indicators and draft donor reports and communications materials

Role Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant professional experience in democratic governance, elections, institutional strengthening, international development or human rights
  • Previous electoral-assistance experience including logistics and operations or electoral-system reform
  • English language proficiency

Desired Criteria

  • Experience in fragile and conflict-affected settings
  • Previous UN-system experience in a development context
  • Previous experience in the Pacific region
