Job Description

Supports UNDP’s Peaceful Elections initiative in Papua New Guinea by helping provincial electoral institutions prepare for transparent, inclusive and conflict-sensitive 2027 elections. The volunteer coordinates stakeholders, monitors preparations and election risks, supports capacity building and provides regular briefings, reports and communications to strengthen peaceful electoral processes.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to provincial election managers and electoral stakeholders in priority dispute hotspots
  • Support provincial election steering committees, information distribution, civic education and operational planning
  • Coordinate with community leaders, civil society, faith-based actors and provincial representatives
  • Monitor election preparations and prepare briefings for UN and UNDP senior management
  • Support coordination among UN Women, OHCHR and other UN programme teams
  • Manage partnerships with electoral institutions and government offices
  • Monitor project indicators and draft donor reports and communications materials

Role Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant professional experience in democratic governance, elections, institutional strengthening, international development or human rights
  • Previous electoral-assistance experience including logistics and operations or electoral-system reform
  • English language proficiency

Desired Criteria

  • Experience in fragile and conflict-affected settings
  • Previous UN-system experience in a development context
  • Previous experience in the Pacific region
