Mechanical Technician

Builds high-temperature superconducting magnet models, coils and associated equipment for CERN's research and development programme. The technician manufactures and modifies precision mechanical parts, manages components and manufacturing requests, performs acceptance tests, maintains production documentation and produces CAD drawings that support traceable, quality-controlled magnet assembly.

• Produce high-temperature-superconductor-based magnet coils
• Assemble superconducting magnet models, prototypes and manufacturing tools
• Manufacture and modify mechanical parts through milling, turning and forming
• Manage component stocks, manufacturing requests and purchase orders
• Perform acceptance tests for components and assemblies
• Prepare procedures, test reports and traceability documentation
• Produce CAD drawings of components and tooling from 3D models

• Technical certificate, general secondary education or equivalent relevant experience in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• Valid driving licence
• Eligibility as a national of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State
• Work in radiation-controlled areas
• Interventions in underground installations
• Spoken and written English or French with commitment to learn the other language
