Job Description

Creates a pool of vetted seconded law-enforcement specialists who can support INTERPOL operational directorates across crime areas. Assignments develop operational responses, coordinate criminal cases, deliver training and provide specialist support to member countries.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Coordinate investigations and operational cases between member countries
  • Develop operational responses to specific crime phenomena and business continuity needs
  • Create specialised training programmes and share techniques and good practice
  • Monitor and analyse information related to assigned crime areas
  • Identify major criminal threats with potential global impact
  • Build partnerships with national, regional and global organisations
  • Serve as a reference point for member countries seeking operational advice or assistance

Role Requirements

  • Open to law enforcement or governmental officials within INTERPOL member countries only
  • Home administration, agency, service or government must confirm agreement to INTERPOL secondment conditions through the National Central Bureau
  • Three to four years of university-level study or specialised higher education, preferably in law, public policy, police management or a related field, or equivalent legal or police academy qualifications
  • At least three years of hands-on experience in police operations or criminal investigations with specialisation in one or more transnational crime areas, or ten years of relevant professional experience without the required education
  • Extensive experience as a law enforcement officer
  • Professional fluency in English

Desired Criteria

  • International environment experience is highly desirable
  • Candidates need a specialised criminal investigations background including regional, subregional and national expertise or operational police support
  • Computer experience including presentation, business intelligence and word processing software is desired
