Job Description
WHO seeks an international solar-energy consultant to plan, procure, install and commission resilient solar systems for Sudanese health facilities. The consultant will lead energy assessments, technical and economic designs, procurement support and installation monitoring, while integrating safeguards and training contractors and facility staff across the SHARE and SHIEP projects.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Coach field investigators and ensure quality primary data collection at identified facilities
- Conduct or supervise energy-health needs assessments covering electricity demand, medical equipment, water systems and facility services
- Develop techno-economic analyses and solar-system designs, including configurations, cost estimates and safety interventions
- Prepare technical specifications, bills of quantities and procurement documentation and advise WHO on procurement approaches
- Monitor installation and commissioning, develop inspection checklists, train staff and document safeguards, quality and implementation issues
Role Requirements
- Advanced university degree at Master’s level or above in electrical engineering, renewable energy systems or a related field
- 7 to 10 years of relevant international professional experience in solar PV systems for health facilities or other critical infrastructure
- Demonstrated experience in multi-country or international development projects
- Proven experience leading complex solar-electrification projects funded by international organizations or development partners
- Fluent knowledge of English
- Medical certificate of fitness for work
Desired Criteria
- Experience supporting WHO, UN agencies, the World Bank, African Development Bank or other international development organizations
- Experience working in fragile, emergency or humanitarian settings
- Knowledge of climate-resilient energy practices and technologies

Additional Information
- Off-site consultancy with frequent travel according to the implementation plan
