Job Description

Supports UNEP's Civil Society Unit in strengthening the participation of Major Groups, Stakeholders, children, youth and Indigenous Peoples in UNEA and UNEP processes. The intern helps prepare consultative meetings, coordinate youth-participation work, provide logistical and technical event support, document discussions and sustain engagement across governing and environmental-policy forums.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Help plan and organize UNEA-7 follow-up and UNEA-8 preparatory events for Major Groups and Stakeholders
  • Support coordination and implementation of UNEA resolution 7/6 on youth participation
  • Provide logistical and technical support for Major Groups and Stakeholders meetings
  • Prepare agendas, minutes and written summaries of meetings and discussions
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement in Committee of Permanent Representatives and Group of Friends meetings
  • Support follow-up activities, workshops, webinars and conferences

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental studies, international relations, social or political sciences, sustainable development, law, philosophy, cultural or social studies, or a related field
  • Be enrolled in a graduate programme, be in the final year of a bachelor's programme, or have graduated with a university degree
  • Fluency in spoken and written English

Desired Criteria

  • Ability to draft news articles or social-media posts
  • Ability to design surveys and polls
