Job Description

IOM’s Washington Global Office seeks an ICT Officer to manage ICT operations. The role coordinates infrastructure, cybersecurity, business continuity and disaster recovery; advises users and management on data and technology solutions; manages ICT procurement specifications; and liaises with headquarters, partners, vendors and field operations to support organizational needs.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Manage ICT Unit activities, resource allocation and compliance with IOM ICT policies, standards and strategy
  • Liaise with management, heads of units and field operations to provide timely ICT solutions and services
  • Act as ICT business-relationship and cybersecurity focal point with programmes, government, donors, UN agencies, vendors and service providers
  • Supervise and equip the ICT team to respond to information-security incidents and provide Tier 1 support
  • Prepare office ICT SOPs, business-continuity plans, disaster-recovery plans and ICT risk records
  • Assess service improvements and advise management on ICT infrastructure and solutions
  • Develop procurement technical specifications and guide technical evaluation of ICT equipment, supplies and services
  • Implement cybersecurity controls and compliance requirements under HQ oversight

Role Requirements

  • Master’s degree in computer engineering, computer science, information management, information technology or a related field with five years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in the stated fields with seven years of relevant experience
  • Experience managing ICT implementation and Microsoft Windows, serverless network, LAN/WAN and desktop-support environments
  • Fluency in English, oral and written

Desired Criteria

  • Cisco, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft systems-administration or database-administration certificates are an advantage
  • PMP, Prince2 or ITIL certification is an advantage
  • Working knowledge of another official UN language is an advantage
