Summary of Responsibilities
- Monitor and report on humanitarian developments and emergency situations in assigned areas
- Coordinate international humanitarian and emergency assistance for complex crises
- Prepare situation reports, studies, policy documents and briefings on humanitarian issues
- Partner with humanitarian agencies to plan and evaluate emergency assistance programmes
- Maintain contacts with government officials, UN agencies, NGOs, diplomatic missions and media
- Support sub-offices to evaluate crises, identify needs and prepare contingency and response plans
Role Requirements
- Advanced university degree in political science, social science, international studies, public administration, economics, engineering, earth sciences or a related field
- Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in humanitarian affairs, emergency preparedness, crisis or emergency relief management, rehabilitation, development or a related area
- Humanitarian field experience in emergency situations
- English and French are required

- Experience in a humanitarian context within the UN common system
- Experience in the West and Central Africa region
