Job Description
Supports the Human Rights Treaties Branch in monitoring compliance with international human rights and humanitarian law and advancing accountability. The post researches and analyses rights situations, advises national and civil-society counterparts, supports treaty mechanisms and partnerships, and contributes to advocacy and communication on protection, rule of law and human rights-based approaches.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Monitor implementation of international human rights and humanitarian law
- Collect, document and analyse evidence on civil, cultural, economic, social and political rights
- Verify multi-source information and ensure methodological compliance
- Advise national and regional counterparts on human rights systems and accountability mechanisms
- Support treaty bodies, special procedures and Universal Periodic Review processes
- Engage youth networks and civil society in human rights advocacy
- Support human rights partnership-building activities
- Contribute substantive content to communication and outreach activities
Role Requirements
- Advanced degree in a relevant field, or a first-level degree with two additional years of qualifying experience
- At least five years of progressively responsible experience in human rights or related areas
- Knowledge of international human rights law, norms and standards
- Skills in drafting human rights reports, policy and other documents
- English or French proficiency

- Knowledge of regional and international human rights mechanisms
