Job Description
Develops practical human-rights resources to help OHCHR staff address the impacts of sea-level rise, especially adaptation, planned relocations and Indigenous Peoples' knowledge. The consultant will map existing materials and gaps, create a rights-based checklist and key messages, consult UN and external actors, and deliver a briefing package for technical cooperation and capacity-building work.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Prepare a workplan for the consultancy outputs and consultations
- Review and map OHCHR, UN and other materials on sea-level rise and human rights
- Identify resource gaps and areas requiring practical guidance
- Develop a human-rights-based checklist for reviewing sea-level-rise laws, policies, plans and programmes
- Prepare key messages and a briefing package with slides and talking points
- Consult OHCHR, UN agencies and selected external actors and incorporate feedback into final products
Role Requirements
- At least five years of professional experience related to human rights and the environment
- Fluency in English
Desired Criteria
- Experience in human mobility, disaster-risk reduction, climate change or sea-level rise
- Experience relating to the rights of Indigenous Peoples
- Experience on UNFCCC matters
- Experience working in a multilateral environment
