Job Description

Leads WFP Yemen's Targeted Emergency Food Assistance operations from Aden in a complex humanitarian setting. The international consultant manages pipelines, partners and multi-disciplinary teams; drives beneficiary digitalisation and cash-transfer shifts; and strengthens emergency preparedness, social-protection interoperability, external coordination and donor engagement.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Lead Targeted Emergency Food Assistance operations, including planning, budgets, pipelines and expenditure controls
  • Manage cooperating-partner selection, negotiations, monitoring and formal evaluations
  • Lead and strengthen the Emergency Food Assistance team and field collaboration
  • Coordinate household retargeting and digital identity assurance measures
  • Drive appropriate transition to digital cash transfers
  • Advance social-protection interoperability and cash-transfer mechanisms with UN and financial-institution partners
  • Lead emergency preparedness and represent WFP in Rapid Response Mechanism coordination
  • Represent WFP in sector coordination and donor discussions

Role Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in international relations, development studies, economics, social sciences, business administration or another relevant field
  • Minimum seven years of progressive professional experience in humanitarian operations, emergency programme management or food-security assistance
  • Fluency in spoken and written English

Desired Criteria

  • Experience leading large-scale cash-based or in-kind operations in complex, high-risk or conflict-affected settings
  • Experience in the Middle East region or Yemen
  • Working knowledge or intermediate proficiency in Arabic
