Job Description
Conducts a gender assessment and action plan for WMO’s Green Climate Fund proposal to scale up climate-resilient early-warning systems in Jamaica. The home-based consultant reviews institutions and consults stakeholders, develops GCF-compliant deliverables and integrates gender considerations into project design. One mission to Jamaica supports consultation, field visits and validation.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Assess gender opportunities, barriers and priorities through review and consultations
- Prepare a GCF-compliant Gender Assessment and Gender Action Plan
- Recommend integration of gender considerations into proposal design
- Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders
Role Requirements
- Advanced degree in gender studies, social sciences, international development, climate change, environmental sciences, disaster risk reduction, public policy, development studies, economics or related discipline
- At least seven years of experience in gender mainstreaming, climate adaptation, disaster risk reduction, resilience or sustainable development
- Familiarity with Green Climate Fund Gender Policy, Environmental and Social Policy and Funding Proposal Template
- Excellent knowledge of English
Desired Criteria
- Experience in meteorological or hydrological services and early-warning systems
- Knowledge of Caribbean small-island developing states
- Previous professional experience in Jamaica or the Caribbean
