Job Description

WFP Guatemala seeks a Food Systems and Climate Specialist to lead design and implementation of climate-resilience, sustainable food-systems and adaptive-social-protection initiatives. The specialist will develop climate-finance proposals, coordinate government and development partners, manage programme quality and evidence, and build institutional capacity so vulnerable communities benefit from climate-informed, inclusive programming.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Lead formulation and technical development of climate-finance and development proposals
  • Prepare theories of change, logical frameworks, climate-risk analysis and feasibility inputs
  • Coordinate government, UN, donor and development-partner consultations
  • Manage programme planning, monitoring, reporting and knowledge management
  • Integrate climate adaptation into sustainable food systems and social protection
  • Strengthen institutional capacity on climate finance and resilience
  • Produce technical reports and strategic inputs for programme and donor decisions

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in economics, public policy, international development, social protection, sustainable food systems, programme management, climate change, sustainable development or a related field
  • Fluent English and Spanish at Level C

Desired Criteria

  • Nine years of relevant experience in development, resilience, social protection, food systems, food security, nutrition or climate adaptation
  • Experience coordinating development projects and institutional processes
  • Experience working with government institutions, UN agencies, development partners or NGOs
  • Experience formulating projects for climate or development-financing mechanisms
  • Experience linking nutrition-sensitive social protection, climate resilience, gender and food systems
